  • Can we design your advert artwork?
Yes, we are more than happy to design or redesign any artwork for a booking. Usually there is no additional charge for this. The easiest way for us to start on your artwork is for you to supply a brief, this may include: Logo Images Previous artwork Text Contact information We will create a proof, share with you for amendments and approval. Once you have approved it will be used for your booking. We can also provide artwork services outside of a booking, simpy contact us and we can discuss what you require.
  • What file types can I supply?
There are several file types we can accept, there are preferred formats and accepted formats. Preferred File Types: These formats are the most commonly accepted, they will ensure the best possible print results in our magazines. Artwork should be created in CMYK. PDF - Print ready/High Quality format This is the most common type, almost all design software will save files in this format. Indesign (.indd) - Packaged, with all linked items and fonts Illustrator (.ai) - Make sure all images are embedded and if non standard fonts are used, please outline text Accepted Formats: These are common formats, they are designed for digital use, however they can be used for print but may not produce the best print results, we will check and let you know of any issues. JPEG Common format for photos, ideally artwork is saved at 300dpi (high resolution) in CMYK for the best print output, however the minimum we would use is 150dpi. Your final print may look a little grainy. PNG Designed for higher quality digital images, this format can produce clearer images when printed. Ideally artwork is saved at 300dpi (high resolution) , however the minimum we would use is 150dpi. This format only saves in RGB TIFF Files saved in this format contain more information and can produce higher quality prints. Ideally artwork is saved at 300dpi (high resolution) in CMYK for the best print output, however the minimum we would use is 150dpi. File can be very big.
  • What is the difference between RGB & CMYK
In short, RGB is for Digital use (computer screens, phones and TVs) whereas CMYK is for print. Just like your printer at home, commercial printers use the same 4 colours - Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) & Black (K) If you create your artwork in CMYK format, when printed it will as closely as possible match your intended design. Whereas artwork created in RGB has to be converted to CMYK before printing, this process can alter the colour and the final results can look different. All professional design software will allow you to create in CMYK, many free online design apps may only let your create artwork in RGB. If you are unsure you can always contact us.
  • Will you check my artwork?
When we receive artwork we will always check the following: Format Size Colour - CMYK or RGB Quality If we spot any issues we will let you know, we will try to suggest alternatives and even offer to design for you. When we do it is because we want it to look the very best. The check we do is for quality only, we don't check for spelling, grammar or errors.
  • How can I send my artwork?
All artwork can be emailed to us, however we know that due to the file size it may not be possible to send as an attachment, in those instances then you can use file transfer sites. The main email address to send artwork to (up to 20mb) is matt@archpublications.com or sent as a reply to the booking confirmation from Katy or David For files over 20mb then please send via a file sharing website, most of them are free, the most common one is WeTransfer Alternatively if you use cloud file storage, they have the option to share artwork. If you are unsure or need any help then please contact us.
